About the Department

The Department of Zoology is one of the coveted departments of the Ramkrishna Mahavidyalaya, Kailashahar founded in the year 2006. The department is established to pursue higher education in the field of zoological sciences. It currently offers undergraduate subjects in Zoology (Major/Honours) and Zoology (Minor/ General) for the course of Bachelor of Science.

The curriculum of Zoology covers the form, function, and behaviour of animals and elucidates general biological principles. It is well-structured with theory-based papers along with practical sessions to provide hands on experience to the students and help them comprehend scientific concepts easily. In addition to the curriculum skill enhancement training also provided to the students in the field of aquaculture, vermicomposting technology, wildlife biology etc. so that students can equip with the skill and experience they need to assert themselves in the global marketplace.

Thrust areas in research of the department are fish biology, fish disease, biodiversity and wildlife conservation. The faculty members of the department receive research grants from different agencies including UGC and DBT..
